Serzone And Your Health

There are literally thousands of medications out there at the moment to treat all manner of ailments. If you had a headache, you could take painkillers, for a cough there are medicines, for cancer there are higher powered drugs and so on. However, you do not think of the side effects that the drugs will have on your body in the long term. That is, until a major news story breaks because of action against a pharmaceuticals firm as a direct result of those side effects. The Serzone lawsuits that began early on the decade and are still persisting even now represent just one of those examples.

In the USA, the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) is trusted with the responsibility of testing and approving various drugs on the market. Their approval is believed to be the universal seal of approval as far as safety is concerned. However, Serzone was given that seal of approval and badly let them down. As a result of the Serzone lawsuits, it has emerged that Serzone is nowhere near safe to take for those looking for a measure of relief from the depression. In fact, it may actually help in the short terms but would then result in the demise of your body if taken over a number of years. The Serzone lawsuits responded directly to those accusations and were largely successful.

Very few drugs have the potential to be as damaging as Serzone has. It is in fact linked to a number of problems, with the most severe being acute liver damage with potential liver failure also thrown in there too. The Serzone lawsuits were largely based on the findings that over fifty patients had some form of severe liver disorder after taking Serzone for some time, and that number alone was enough to begin a petition to the FDA to pressure the body to take it off the shelves and force Serzone off general sale completely. This initial petition failed and was ensued by the Serzone lawsuits as a result. However, the fifty patients with liver failure as a result of Serzone was just a drop in the ocean because twenty more had died from liver failure and of course there are the hundreds if not thousands more that will develop it as a result of Serzone use in the years to come.

Although the Serzone packaging does carry a warning about the possible degeneration of the liver as a result of use, the Serzone lawsuits continued and still do so to this day. It appears that there may also be other health risks and illnesses related to the drug that have not yet come to the surface. There are a good number of individuals that did take the antidepressants previously who are worried about what effect it may have on their future. In the past, Serzone served its function and purpose by enabling individuals to get over their bouts of depression and live a normal life, but as it is at the moment, the concern for the future is all that motivates the Serzone lawsuits. As a result, they will continue for the foreseeable future.
